Product Overview
Some programs just have career assessments, but the programs do not offer information about careers. Other programs have career tests and career lists, but the programs do not match the careers to the training programs.
The best program is the Make a Career Profile (MCP). It is a system that has 4 career tests, a career database, and an educational program database.
The 4 career tests assess interests, values, skills, and personality styles. Benefits of the MCP tests are that the MCP tests are reusable. You can redo the tests as many times as you like. With most other tests, it is usually one-time use only.
It is important to develop a list of potential careers. The MCP test results are matched to a list of careers. The Make a Career Profile lists careers that match the interests, values, skills, and personality. Some other tests provide limited lists, but the Make a Career Profile provides an extensive career list from a database of 1200+ occupations. From this database, you will find your dream job.
After selecting your career, it is important that you find the right educational program. You can get a career by attending a certificate, 2 year, and 4 year educational programs. In the MCP educational program database, you can find careers that require the completion of a certificate, 2 year, and four year educational programs.
If you are looking for careers in a specific geographic area, the MCP allow you the option to search by region or state.
Finally, since the cost of education is a factor, the MCP educational program database search education programs according to college or other training program costs.

... our daughter did do the online exercise. She is a sophomore in high school and for the last couple of years has said she wants to be a dental hygienist. I have thought that something along the teaching line would better fit her gifts but haven't said anything - I want her to come to her own conclusions. After doing the tests several of the jobs it came up with for her were in the teaching field :) as well as creative fields and of course no dental hygiene at all. so she did a little research and found that she really doesn't fit the profile of someone who would enjoy dental hygiene, so she's starting to rethink her decision. This tool has been very helpful so far!

I like the option of answering beyond just "yes I like it or no I don't like it." Most programs limit the options to just the two.
I also like the fact that their are career choices that take into account interests, values, skills and personality.- It would be nice to see the careers that pertain to my specific Holland Code. For instance my Holland code is ISC, and it would be interesting to see all of the careers that fall under just ISC, even if they are few.
It would be helpful to see what matches with my interest level graph without going into each occupation. I haven't found on yet that I match up with.- I like the program a lot and will also use it to determine my teenagers' interests so that we know which direction to start focusing on in school. College is just around the corner and I want them to be confident in their major selections before we start investing our hard earned dollars into classes they may not like, half way through college.
